Royal Wings (a subsidiary of Royal Jordanian) operates the single domestic passenger air routing between Amman and Aqaba. At JD30 one-way, this is not prohibitively expensive, and means you can travel from city center to city center in barely more than an hour, compared with more than four city bumpy hours overland. In addition, the airborne views over the desert, the Dead Sea and the Petra mountains are worth the fare in themselves - make sure you're sitting on the right-hand side of the plane heading south. The Royal Jordanian Gliding Club (Tel: O6/4874587), based at Marka Airport in Amman, can take you up for a unique view of the capital from above in either a free-flying or motorized glider, at around JD15/hr For considerably more - up to JD150/hr -and with 24 hours' notice, they can provide a proper light aircraft for four passenger to fly to (or over) anywhere In Jordan. |
